Independence Basic impresses with a clear and intuitively operatable user interface. Next to the main modules for fast switching between the different modes for manipulating the sounds and instruments you can also use the "Content" buttons where available. So you can switch instantly between the parameters and the file browser to keep your overview at any time.

During the development of Independence Basic one of the most important issues was the field of the performance. The result is more than unique: You can load an unlimited number of Layers into Independence Basic; the same with the number of samples! Also the polyphony has no limits, so Independence Basic lives up to it's when it comes to performance!

Load, load, load - as much and as fast you want! Dependent from the power of your computer you can switch between the reading of the samples from hard disk or from RAM at any time. To adjust the performance even better to your system, you can of course also customize the streaming options accordingly.

Save CPU power and memory - automatically! Using this feature, all audio samples which you actually are not using, get deleted from your instruments automatically. To give you still the required flexiblity for later changes you can of course undo the auto-cleaner in Independence Basic at any time to get again access to the all the samples of the instrument.

To find your way also in the biggest sound library databases, Independence Basic offers a powerful search function. After you entered your search term, the selection pulldown menu will only show the Projects, Layersets and Layers that fit to your search.

One of the most innovative features of Independence Basic. So far the most powerful Plug-In mixer, this feature enables you to mix all your instruments already in Independence Basic without switching to your host application before.

Unlimited BUS channels, unlimited CUSTOM channels (INTERNAL VIRTUAL CHANNELS) and also more than 30 professional insert effects and filters are just some of the amazing features of the mixer.

Independence Basic comes with the most sophisticated Surround Environment you will ever find in any software sampler and supports all professional surround formats, like Pro Logic, Dolby Surround, Dolby Digital, DTS, ITU, SDDS and many more up to 8.1. Of course all insert filter and effects of Independence Basic are now fully surround compatible.
Worldwide unique in Indepedence is the total flexibility of all the formats: You can immediately switch between all the available surround formats and Independence Basic will automatically route the channels to the assignment of the new format. Additonally you can assign the surround formats for each Layer individually, so Independence Basic can manage different surround formats at the same time.

Enter the sound world of different cultures and their tunes. In Independence Basic you can choose between more than 50 different presets of arabic, turkish, indian, chinese, west african, gambia, historic and many more tunes for your instruments. Furthermore you can also create your own tunes and add them to your preset list.

This part is the "Humanizer" of Independence Basic.
Stepper, articulations, up to 32 different alternates and an amazing legato mode - Independence Basic offers many innovative options to give your instruments the human touch. All these options are customizable with every detail and furthermore get managed automatically by Independence Basic in the background.

Independence Basic can also load WAV and AIFF files (up to 32bit/192kHz).
A further spectacular feature is the Auto-Mapping-Import function:
Independence Basic recognizes the name-structure of multiple samples that belong together and offers in addition the following import options for the files: multi key mapping (for melodic instruments), one key mapping (for percussive instruments), chromatic (loops and FX), and the unique yellow tools X-Y-Z import (3D import in three axis) for auto recognizing Sections and Alternates.
Furthermore there is the separately available "Independence Basic Translator Edition" from Chicken System. This translator converts the formats of nearly all hardware and software samplers to Independence Basic. Registered users can download a free tryout for MAC OS X and Windows XP from our user area. The tryout contains the complete conversion from AKAI S1000/S3000 and Soundfont to Independence Basic and also a Gigastudio conversion of the first 0.5 seconds per sample.

After the import of own samples or also existing Layers, the powerful audio editor enables the subsequent fine-tuning of the start/end points of the sample and also the loop markers, volume, pitch, etc. of each single sample.

The visual display of the audio files contains next to the zoomable waveform and the file name also all information on sample rate, bit rate, file type, length, number of frames and file size. If you are using multi channel samples you can show and hide all single channels of each file.

Any restrictions and limitations regarding the editing of Loops - and specially regarding the change of the tempo - are now thanks to the innovative "Flexible Groove" mode of Independence Basic a thing of the past!

In the Audio Editor you can switch to the "Slice" mode at any time. Using the "sensitivity" settings you can adjust the automatic groove recognition for the selected loop. Furthermore the Slice Editor allows many more flexible and intuitive editing options: Zoom, fixing amd moving slice markers, manual deletion and adding of slice markers and finally the frame accurate movement and adjustment of all slice markers. To get the best possible overview about your current settings and adjustments you can simply click on a slice to play back only this one, so you can always check the results of your adjustments immediately... as usual for Independence Basic all this is possible in real-time!!!

And if you wonder about the sense...? For the first time it is possible to slow down your audio loop in its original tune up to 60% without loss of quality!
Of course you can also change and adjust the tune of your loop anytime at will.

The MIDI programs feature can be used as powerful remote control for Independence Basic and all included Layers.
If you are used to work with multiple computers you can install Independence Basic on a separate computer without connected monitor, for example, and control it with your host application on another computer. To switch between different Layers you do not even have to touch Independence Basic on the second computer: you can easily and comfortable switch simply with the "program change" option of your host application.
Another advantage of this feature is the compatibility to MIDI files (format 1):
As soon as you load a MIDI file that includes a "program change" number into your hardware or software sequencer, Independence Basic will load the corresponding Layer patch automatically!
Finally "MIDI Programs" turns Independence Basic into a powerful workstation for live performances: You can switch between the currently loaded Layer patches directly with your MIDI keyboard without any additional loading time (precaching activated!)

Independence Basic can manage up to 16,383 different banks. Each bank can contain up to 128 different MIDI programs, from 0 to 127 - so a maximum of more than 2,000,000 assignable MIDI programs!

To accelerate the loading times and thus your work, we integrated a powerful "pre-cache" option.
All Layers that are part of the pre-cache option you select, get pre-loaded into Independence Basic and are available immediately when you activate them - without any additional loading time.
"Pre-cache" is extremely usable for any kind of live perfomance with Independence Basic: Simply select your pre-cache option and you can witch between several gigabyte large instruments immediately!

The usability of the "Pre-cache" feature does not depend on the power of your computer.
It does NOT use additonal RAM like streaming or other resources when activated!

The sophisticated file BROWSER of Independence gives you immediate, fast and easy access to any files you can use in Independence.
You get an overview of your Independence Projects, Layer Sets, Layers and Sections and also all available MIDI and audio files inside your Independence Root folder - so you have six browsers in one.

The new Browser page with its scalable file display includes sophisticated search AND import functions for Projects, Layer Sets, Layers, Sections, MIDI files and audio files. You can search with the attributes like name, date, category, keywords, last modified, user notes, author name, notes, bars, bpm, meter, path, size, channels, bit rate, sample rate, type.
Beside the pre-listen option for audio and midi files you can also batch any attributes information to multiple selected files in one simple step.

The Custom Remote Control area of the Quick Edit page lets you assign any Independence Basic parameter directly to one of the 8 freely assignable custom remote knobs or buttons:

There is also a "custom learn" option for any Independence Basic parameter, so you just have to select this option for the parameter you want to assign to one of the custom control knobs or buttons. To finish the assignment you only have to click on the knob or button you want to use for the manipulation of the selected parameter. Beside that general assignment of parameters to the remote control knobs and buttons you can additionally set a minimum and maximum automation value for each parameter you assigned to a knob. This means that you can use the full range (0% to 100%) of the remote control knob only for a specified value range of the assigned parameter.
You can even use the remote control buttons to create a start note that triggers one of the MIDI modules of Independence Basic, like Arranger, Step Sequencer, Arpeggiator, etc. - so you can simply start and stop these modules the easiest way possible. You can use your sustain pedal, for example, to start or stop the playback of a Step Sequencer!
Additionally - to keep the overview - you can select up to 8 different colors for the knobs and buttons. This way you can create groups of parameters that belong together which is very useful especially during live performances!
Activating the powerful host and MIDI automation options for the custom remote control, you can finally use any external hardware controller with Independence Basic.

Manipulation and custom adjustments are popular methods to specialize, edit and customize existing instruments to your own needs.

Therefore Independence Basic offers an enormous amount of the most professional effects for your musical demands. You can assign an unlimited number of inserts to each channel. For easy manipulation you can change the sequence of the inserts very easily by drag'n'drop.

The Mic Modeler allows you the immediate assignment of different microphone characters to your instruments. Available are 14 different legendary microphone models of the categories "condenser", "dynamic" and "tube".

Beside the standard keyswitch between several Layers Independence Basic also contains a "layer-internal" keyswitch. So you can switch not only between whole layers but also inside a layer between different playing styles, for example.

Beside full Host and MIDI automation, many of the Independence Basic features also include the MIDI learn function.

Flexible manipulation of instruments and sounds is one of the most outstanding features of Independence Basic. Using the "Flexible Modifiers" you can connect any source to any destination.
You can use this feature to customize and manipulate your instruments as well as to simplify and automate your work.
One of the most outstanding features of the Flexible Modifiers is the possibility of any number of "multiple assignments": Using only one controller (e.g. your keyboard, MIDI controller or also host automation) and only one movement, you can change as many as desired parameters at the same time - e.g. volume, filter Cuttoff and panorama!!!
Independence Basic supports even different controller ranges (min. and max. values) and individual envelope settings per parameter as well as opposite changes of value (invert). Of course you can also extend each single parameter of the multiply assigned Modifiers with further Modifiers individually at any time.

The yellow tools Arranger is a unique and inspiring MIDI file player with automatic chord recognition.
This means that you can import one or multiple MIDI files (let s say a little strings arrangement) into the Arranger and assign these MIDI files to chords. If you now play the chords on your keyboard the MIDI files get started and the Arranger will transpose the MIDI files automatically to the correct position - depending on the position of the chord and the octave:

Whether Free Envelopes, Step Modulator, LFOs, Arpeggiator, Step Sequencer... - any time realted modules and insert effects can get synced to the host as well as to the internal tempo. Beside the tempo in bpm you can also assign an individual beat synchronisation to each modul.

To get fastest results many presets for single insert effects, effect banks, modules, etc. are available in Independence Basic. Of course you can add your own settings to the preset menus and also append, replace or copy/paste your settings at will.

Independence Basic comes with more than 12 GB of premium and highly optimized sounds of several instruments. All upcoming yellow tools sound libraries will be specially optimized for Independence Basic.
